Max and the stick bug - Costa Rica
This was the biggest bug we found - it was a truly giant grasshopper. The picture doesn't really show it's size. locals call them langostas voladoras -- flying lobsters.

more freaky spiders ... Max called these ones "V Butt Spiders"

like spiders aren't freaky enough without spikes.
These guys were just plain huge. I tried to get my finger in for scale, but keep in mind, my finger in still about 6 inches in the foreground. if you touched any part of their 5 foot web - they'd run towards you! freaky man.
