Leaving Cusco for Lima at sunrise, about 5:45 am.
Flying over the Andes back to the Pacific.
I stayed in the Miraflores part of Lima, and walked around to try and find something worth seeing. No luck, I needed to get away from here for my last day in Peru!
So I hired a taxi to see Punta Hermosa - a classic wave 1 hour south of Lima. Waves weren't hitting, hot foggy weather. I turned around to go back to Lima.

My cabbie stopped me by the ruins of Panacachepa (? I butchered the spelling). This is a massive ruin city built of adobe - it takes 45 minutes to drive through.

Desolate dirt ruins don't seem very spectacular after seeing the stonework and emerald settings of the highlands. I was ready to go home. I missed my beautiful family. Plus it was hot and humid, I was sunburned, and the taxi guy was trying to rip me off.
The only guard at these ruins (and we were the only tourists) he just sat up there the whole time in 98 degree heat.
My cab driver asked if I wanted my picture taken. He tried to look through my digital camera, and took this pic of himself while holding it backwards. ;-)
At the top of the pyramid. That entire area, with the roads running through, is the ruin, a huge and ancient (pre-inca) city built of adobe.
yep, we were the only ones there.
A reconstructed part. How it originally looked before 700 years of rain melted the mud brick city. I was at the "blah blah blah my trip is over" stage today. Just wanted to get back and see my kids.
shanty town on the hills above the ocean just south of Lima.
