Peru, Day 1. Getting off the plane in Puert Maldonado, the Amazon.

Getting off the plane in Lima, after an 10 hour flight.
Then back on the plane, stop over in Cusco and here landed at Puerto Maldonado in the Peruvian Amazon.
Getting on the boat in Puerto Maldonado to go up the Madre Dios River to Sandoval Lake Lodge. The original idea was to go much further of the river to lodge on the border of Bolivia in a more remote area, but the wet changed those plans.

Arrival at the "dock" on the banks of the Madre Dios. Wet season, everything at the high water mark.

A 3 mile slog through mud to get to a narrow, shallow waterway that would get us to Lago Sandoval, an oxbow lake preserve.
This starts the narrow path of water to the lake.
